Swimsuits While it’s Still the Season!

Swimsuits
So, swimsuit season is almost over. There is only a month left. As a salute to the last month and, in the cases of a lot of places, the hottest month, I have created a little collage that contains beachwear. I haven’t gone to the beach in a while, but I do enjoy it, so I really thought it would be nice. I chose styles that are entire suits and not just mix and match. I like the mix and match variety, but the prices, I’m not too crazy about. Some of the swimsuits in this collage are $50, so those are a little more on the expensive side. I think all of these swimsuits are cute. I realize I must like polka dots more than I thought since a lot of them have polka dots. So I will leave you with this piece of advice, if you like the beach, find time to go. :)

Some Sweet Shoes $50 or less

Shoe Lover
Shoe Lovers rejoice! I have a find, all theses shoes are under $50 except the red Michael Antonio BELEN Gladiator Heel, which according to my sources is $50. I picked a lot of shoes, and I like all of them, but I love the monkey slippers. They’re just so cute. I am definitely a major Shoe Lover! I can’t live without cute shoes, but like I have mentioned in previous posts, I live on a budget. So I create collages that help people out. Yay, cheap, cute stuff is always fun. I just love to get a good deal when it comes to shoes, so this is probably one of my favorite posts so far. Another favorite post is my Platforms, Hot or Not. If you love shoes and haven’t read it, I personally recommend it. I think it’s fabulous, but I might be a little bias.

“What’s the Next Story”

I had the privilege of meeting Nerissa Pacio. She was the style editor of 7×7 magazine, and still is a contributing editor for the magazine. She went to UCLA and studied English. Here she joined the paper and got to interview people such as Nicholas Cage. After graduating she was a freelance writer, but the realized that she should go to Graduate School. Because of this realization, she went to Berkley. Eventually she came to work at 7×7 and was the style editor for two years. Now she is currently a contributing editor and is teaching fashion journalism. When asked why she is now teaching, she said that working at different publications and working with interns and younger people pushed her into teaching. She is a very inspiring woman and meeting her has increased my love of writing.

Fun, Flirty, Feminine Accessories Under $50

Favorite Accesories under $50

I love to create little collages with a few things that I personally think are adorable. I really like things that are fun and very girly. I really like to stay on a budget though. I think that it’s possible to stay cute and girly while staying in a reasonable price range, especially when it comes to accessories. I love accessories and think they are a great way to liven up a boring outfit and really pop out from the rest of the crowd. All of these accessories are really cute. They all are connected by being flowery or just really feminine and beautiful. I love all the colors and think that it is important to put accessories together in some way that isn’t helter-skelter.

An Interview With A Reader

I interviewed someone who loves my site and loves what I pick. I know her personally and thought that it would be fun to interview her view on fashion. She is a great artist and a really good friend. She supports my love of fashion enough to agree to this little interview. She comments under the name Hailz and wishes to use that nickname of hers for the purpose of this interview.

  Hailz Interview
MaggieMu: How would you describe your style?

Hailz: Mostly the classic artist, with frizzy hair and comfortable clothing.

MaggieMu: Do you think you are a reasonably trendy person, why?

Hailz: Not really, mostly because fashion and trendy is in the eye of the beholder.

MaggieMu: Do you think that fashion matters, why?

Hailz: Of course it matters, if there was no such thing as fashion then people wouldn’t have the cloths on their backs, lots of people would be out of the job and people can get inspiration out of these outfits or costumes.  So for a world to not have fashion would be unacceptable in my eyes… I could go on, but I’ll stop now.

MaggieMu: What is one item you cannot live without?

Hailz: In a fashion sense I can’t live without my PJ pants! They’re just so comfortable!

MaggieMu:  In your opinion, what is one item that every woman should have in her wardrobe?

Hailz: “Every woman needs to have a little black dress and a set of pearls.” And I totally agree.

MaggieMu: Why do you think that item matters?

Hailz:  Because that particular look anyone could pull off, it’s trendy, classic and good for any formal occasion as well as casual occasions.  It’s very plain so it’s good for all situations, it’s very versatile.

MaggieMu: Do you think your style is more functional or fashionable? Why?

Hailz: Defiantly more functional, my number one is comfort; if I’m not relaxed in what I’m wearing I’ll change it immediately.

MaggieMu: Is it weird that someone is asking you about your own personal style, why?

Hailz: Not really, I think everyone has their own style and express it in different ways, even if it’s similar to a general style. Your individuality still effects that general description of your style and thus makes it your own.

MaggieMu: Can you name a few designers that you like? If not, why?

Hailz: I really like Chanel and Gucci. Chanel has a very classic style and Gucci is more a walk on the wild side.  I like both of those aspects.

MaggieMu: Where do you like to shop?

Hailz: Anywhere, basically window shopping will spark an interest leading me into a store.

MaggieMu: Well, thank you Hailz. And I’m really glad that you let me interview you.

Fun Fashion Under $50

Fun Under $50

I know not all of us have a ton of money. So I created a cute little collage full of fun little items all under $50. So now it is yay cute stuff, not boohoo big bill. I love getting really adorable stuff without the not so adorable price. I love all of these things that I found. I love shopping, but I do have a limited budget. I love fashion and I love makeup, so to find a ton of stuff in my price range makes me so happy. I think these products are really cute and I hope you will too.

Beauty under $50

Theses products are really fun and cool. I love all the colors. I like that there is a green eyeliner and a purple lipstick. All the skirts are fun colors. I’m a color freak so I like it when things are bright.

Platforms, Hot or Not?

Platform Shoes

Platform shoes, not just a trend from the 70’s while disco was popular, but a hot new trend when part of a super high heel. As heels are getting higher, platforms start appearing. They aren’t your mother’s dance shoes any more. No matter the shape or thickness of the heel, platforms are showing up to the party. In a world where flats were the hottest thing a few seasons back, now the ultra high; extremely classy; highest of the high heels is back.

These new types of platform shoes are appearing in a wide variety of styles. They’re appearing in super high stilettos and in the thickest chunky heels alike. In the trend of ultra high heels, hidden platforms make the heels look higher without all the pain of a ten inch shoe. These platforms are a way to make mile high shoes more comfortable and are popping up all over the place.

With this hot trend of high heels with platforms, it doesn’t matter what kind of high heel it is. Square, pointed, or round toe, ankle boots or above the knee, ultra thin or super chunky heels, buckles or zippers, even tapered heels, it doesn’t matter, as long as the shoe is super high with a platform. It is more of a super high version of what people wear that matters and not what the shape of the shoe is. This trend is in the opposite end of the shoe spectrum than the trends of years past.

More Platform Shoes

Looking at the fall ’09 fashion shows, it is easy to see that the hottest shoe trend is ultra high heels with platforms. Designers; such as Donna Karan, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, and Marc Jacobs to name a few, have all put their models in a variety of styles of ultra high heels with platforms. Just to cement the idea that platform shoes is a hot trend, other designers that have put models in this style of high heel are Dsquared², Doo.Ri, and Christian Dior. With so many well known designers using them on the runway, there’s no question that this will be one of the hottest trend in fall ’09.

So when looking for the hottest trend in shoes, the ultra high platform heel is the way to go. They can be so versatile and classy. No matter what style you have, you always can find one that you will love. They look fabulous in every shape and color. They can make a statement or just look great with whatever you’re wearing. These shoes are hot for fall and seem like they won’t go out of style soon because they are a classic look with a more modern twist. Because the classics always come back, these platformed high heels are a great investment for women who don’t buy shoes that often.
